History & Heritage

Auli shares roots with Joshimath — where Adi Shankaracharya founded Jyotir Math in the 8th century. Once a trade route for Bhotia tribes and later key during the 1962 Indo-China War.

Modern Auli

The 4 km Auli–Joshimath Ropeway (since 1993) changed everything!

Now Auli is a global hotspot for skiing, trekking & scenic tourism.
